So I've been putting off piano practice today for at least an hour when I decide to check my Facebook one more time and here is this blog entry by my all time favorite Coach and NLP genius Doug O'Brien. How did he know?

It was Doug who taught me that 'repetition is the mother of skill' though he makes it all look so simple the way he does it, I swear he is the Errol Garner of NLP...and it is Doug who actually can play my Steinway M piano the way it needs to be played (similar to the way a Lamborghini needs to be driven?). Did he mention that he has actually PLAYED in Carnegie Hall? Of course he didn't.

Recently, my husband gave me piano lessons as a gift so now i really do need to get off this computer and practice, practice, practice. I'm no Errol Garner so it is off to the piano bench I go.

Great piece Doug - keep 'em coming!

That is exactly why I'm doing it. People were stealing the posts without permission or any mention as to it source. This way they can't do that so easily.

Just starting to learn NLP/Hypnosis/Erickson. Scratching my head. "We can go beyond the foundations that Erickson laid." This presupposes that Erickson's abilities are at an attainable level, that we know exactly what level his abilities were, so that we can shoot just beyond them. Uhhh I'm sure that Erickson had a deep reservoir of abilities that we would be lucky to even measure up to.

Just as kids who were raised with computers and video games have an intuitive sense of electronics that their elders may seldom achieve, those who spend sufficient time and energy working with Erickson's patterns will necessarily grow beyond them. It begins with learning the basics from someone like you and then grows through personal experience with many, many clients. As the root patterns become intuitively accessible, they can give birth to new levels of practice and understanding that go beyond the foundations that Erickson laid. All of this is possible so long as we don't become Ericksonian fundamentalists and keep as open to observation and learning as Erickson was.
